Air Cadets in Medicine Hat play an active role in supporting their community through service and volunteer work. From local events to meaningful traditions, cadets develop leadership, responsibility, and a strong sense of citizenship while making a positive impact.

🌱 Giving Back: How Air Cadets Support the Medicine Hat Community

Being an Air Cadet is about more than leadership and training — it’s also about giving back.

At 15 Medicine Hat Royal Canadian Air Cadets, community service is an important part of the program. Cadets learn the value of citizenship by contributing their time, energy, and effort to support the community they are part of.

🤝 Building Strong Community Connections

Cadets regularly take part in community events and initiatives throughout the year.

These opportunities allow cadets to:

  • Work together as a team
  • Represent the squadron with pride
  • Build connections within the Medicine Hat community

Through service, cadets develop a strong sense of responsibility and belonging.

🌱 Supporting Local Initiatives

One example of community involvement is the E-Waste Round-Up in partnership with the Medicine Hat Rotary Club – Saamis.

During this event, cadets:

  • Help collect and organize electronic waste
  • Assist community members
  • Support environmental sustainability efforts

By participating in events like this, cadets play an active role in making their community cleaner and greener.

Honouring Through Service

Cadets also contribute to meaningful community traditions.

Each year, cadets:

  • Participate in Remembrance Day ceremonies
  • Volunteer to support the Poppy Campaign
  • Attend ceremonies at schools, seniors’ homes, and community events in Medicine Hat and Redcliff

These experiences help cadets understand the importance of service, respect, and remembrance.

💡 Learning Through Experience

Community service provides real-world learning opportunities.

Cadets develop:

  • Leadership skills
  • Communication and teamwork
  • Confidence when interacting with the public
  • A sense of accountability and responsibility

These are skills that extend far beyond the cadet program.

🌟 Making a Difference

Even small acts of service can have a big impact.

Through their involvement in local events, cadets help strengthen the community while gaining valuable life experience. They learn that leadership isn’t just about leading — it’s about contributing and making a difference.

✈️ More Than a Program

At 15 Medicine Hat Royal Canadian Air Cadets, cadets are not only learning and growing — they are actively helping shape their community.
